Supreme Court agrees to hear major subrogation case.

In an interesting decision by the US Supreme Court, they agreed yesterday to hear the case of Sereboff v. Mid-Atlantic Medical Services.

This case centers on the right of health insurers and health insurance organizations to file subrogation claims for their expenditures for medical costs that are eventually reimbursed via a settlement award. I haven't dug into the facts on the case, so if anyone has them add them here, but I'll try to get a copy of the case and track it here, as the outcome could have profound consequences on the direction of settlements.
