Lawyers argue over meaning of Vioxx study

The Vioxx litigation has shifted focus and is now firmly centered in the court of Judge Eldon Fallon in US District court in New Orleans/Houston.

This article goes over some of the arguments being put forth by the various parties as they battle over causation and try to shape the evidence that will be allowed in the next series of trials about to commence in Federal Court.

This follows closely on the publication of data in a Danish study released yesterday in which it appears that Cox-2 and NSAIDS significantly increase the risk of heart attack or stroke. Interesting reading and a further burden for Merck to carry as they proceed ahead with their defend each case at a time strategy.

I'll be at the Mass Torts Made Perfect conference on the 17th and 18th of this month, and I expect to return with not only some interesting interviews, but some insights into where the Vioxx litigation is going, as well as many other Mass Torts currently in process. Watch for my updates on the 17th and 18th, as well as this weekend.
